Big decisions, Small decisions

Big Decisions

So the new housemates are........Katie and Shelley! We're going to have much fun. It makes me crazy sad to think about Beth leaving (the house, not the country or even the state...I need to get a grip), so I'm glad I can now divert my thoughts to the joy and happiness that will be sharing life (even more intimately than usual) with K & S.

Today Larissa found an summer internship for PhD students where they pay for you to go and stay in New Jersey for 2 months over the American summer working with an expert on a particular project, and return home presumably more expert and more motivated to finish your own project than when you left. Seems like risky business if you ask me (what's the bet most people just never come home?), but we might apply for a laugh if there's projects that match our skills and interests. Doubt they'll want to fly over two final year students from Australia, but it's fun to think about.

Not really a decision

I spent tonight doing camp work. I'm pretty excited. I think it's going to be tops, even if we do have to go to Nowra instead of Port Hacking. Who takes teenagers from Wollongong to Nowra for a camp? Us, as it turns out.

Small Decisions

But anyway, after I knocked over a few solid hours of camp work I needed to rest, so I tried watching Punch-Struck Love on TV. It was bad, so I read my book instead, which is getting too horrible to be enjoyable, especially for late night reading so I stopped that too, and decided to open some mail. Beth was diligent and checked the letterbox mail today. Hardly anything goes there anymore because we always get our mail stolen, but there were a few stray Christmas cards (and a stray bill...oops). One of these cards made my day, because through it I discovered that my wonderful friend, my most favourite person in the UK (like that Lynd?), has a charming blog. So that was a wonderful series of little decisions that has resulted in me very much enjoying the last hour.
